Apart from being concerned with translation and the many other topics related to it, the people who work at Comms are the ones who make the company what it is.

Sue Orchard is the Managing Director and founder of the company. Her professional life has been spent in International Sales and Marketing, something she is passionate about. For many years, she worked as the International Sales Director for a worldwide publishing company, but then decided that she needed a new challenge, hence the creation of Comms Multilingual. Sue is a languages graduate with a top degree in German and Russian, a good knowledge of French, and a working understanding of most of the European languages. Sue won the "Modern Languages Prize" for being the top language student in her final year at University. Sue is a member of the several professional organisations including Chartered Institute of Linguists, International Test Commission (representing Psychometric Test Publishers), Chartered Institute of Sales and Marketing Management, Institute of Directors.

John Bendel, our European Sales Manager, looks after our customers in the UK and across Europe. As John previously ran his own translation company in Spain and the UK for eighteen years, he is very experienced in the business of translation and can provide our clients with help and guidance with their translation requirements. He has a particular acumen for supplying solutions which ensure that all types of organisation from small companies, who are new to translation, through to blue chip companies can see top line revenue growth as a result of their improved multilingual communications. A graduate of Cambridge University, John speaks five European languages fluently and has gained in-depth knowledge of how European markets operate in his many years out of the UK. He is fascinated by the mix between foreign languages and international marketing, and gets real pleasure from seeing our clients expand and improve their international business.

Manda Patel handles our administration and she is a native Gujarati speaker. Her team is responsible for dealing with all our payments to suppliers and for handling our linguist database. Manda brings with her a wealth of experience in administration and book keeping.

Sonia Sala is our Operations Manager. Sonia is a Spanish national, who has a Degree in Translation and Interpreting from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona in Spain in English, Italian and Danish. She also has some knowledge of Portuguese, and German. She has also undertaken year-long courses in Translation and Interpreting at Copenhagen Business School, in French Language and Culture at Université Marc Bloch de Strasbourg in France and a Teacher Training course at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Spain. Sonia has lived and worked in Spain, Italy, Ireland, England, France, Denmark and Portugal and offers a variety of experience, including Project Management and Translation for a translation agency in Barcelona. She has also worked in a variety of roles in the Tourism and Leisure sector, including as an International Conference organiser and as a Conference Interpreter. Sonia has specialised at Comms in handling the translation of psychometric tests.

Graham Morris is our Director, responsible for Finance and Technical. He is in charge of our IT strategy, systems and our web sites. Graham also provides assistance with translation projects that involve more complex formats.

Our main project managers are as follows:

Karolina Cisek-Ndlovu comes from Poland. She holds an MA degree in English Studies from UMCS in Poland, and an MA in Translation from the University of Surrey. Always curious about the world and how things work, she has a particular interest in science, technology and computing, which is why she concentrated on scientific and technical translation and translation technology during her studies and now, at Comms, she handles those projects that are more technical. With a can-do attitude, she loves challenges and takes pleasure in finding solutions to problems.

Suwen Chen comes from Hunan Province, in the central part of China. She holds a Bachelor degree in Arts, from the South China Agricultural University in Guangzhou City, China. English literature was her major at University, and she also studied Industrial Design as her minor, which demonstrates her interest in different subjects. As a four-time National Academic Scholarship winner and First prize winner of the National English Competition for College Students, Suwen is diligent and enthusiastic about languages. She came to the UK to study for an MSc in Scientific, Medical and Technical Translation with Translation Technology at Imperial College, London. Suwen is very motivated to learn and has a strong sense of responsibility. She believes that every project needs to be nurtured to ensure that we deliver what our clients need and when they need it.

Annalisa Di Nicola comes from Sicily, Italy, where she graduated from the Advanced School for Translators and Interpreters. She then moved to the UK where she completed her studies. She holds an MSc in Technical, Scientific, Audiovisual and Medical Translation from Imperial College, London.
She also lived and worked in Spain and France for extended periods of time. Apart from working for Comms, Annalisa is a freelance translator and subtitler. She is a language enthusiast with a genuine interest in and passion for translation, especially in the audiovisual field.
