Customers of Comms
Customers of Comms Multilingual Ltd

Comms Multilingual is based in the UK and has customers all over the world. Some of these customers have been with us since we started and they have stayed with us because they are very happy with the quality and the level of service that they receive. We pride ourselves on a very high return rate for clients.

We have covered a wide variety of projects in a wide variety of subject areas. We have been able to source well qualified linguists for every project, no matter what the subject area, and we pride ourselves in never having refused a job because of the difficulty of finding native-speaker translators - even for rare languages such as Wolof, Ulster Scots or Yoruba - or because of the projects' complexity or subject matter.

Five of our main areas of expertise are as follows:

Psychometric Assessments

We offer a great deal of experience in the translation of Psychometric tests. Our extensive database includes many linguists with a background in Psychology. We work with test publishes in both the Industrial/Organisational (I/O) and Clinical areas. We can also offer expert review by practising Psychologists, Cognitive Debriefing and Normative Studies

Please look at the Case Study for more information on Psychometric Assessments.

Training and Development

Comms works for most of the largest producers of these materials in the United Kingdom and other producers in the rest of the world. This is a very specialised area requiring particular translation and localisation skills, and we have focused on building a comprehensive body of linguists with the requisite experience. Many of them, as well as being qualified linguists, are actually practitioners of the particular subject and they bring their own practical experience to bear.

Telecoms and IT

The growth of the worldwide telecommunications industry has led to a demand for the translation of configuration instructions and user manuals into a multitude of different languages.

Some of the vocabulary is so new that there is not yet a formally accepted translation for some of these words. Some of the time, therefore, our linguists are taking part in the development of their own language. They do this by consulting all of the existing terminology, and then developing new or slightly evolved words from the existing accepted vocabulary. This has been happening even in languages as well established as Polish and Spanish.

Marketing and Advertising

Comms has carried out many projects in the advertising and marketing sector, both with end customers directly and also through many different agencies. We can handle the typesetting of leaflets, brochures, business cards and exhibition materials, providing customers with the final copy in the local language completely ready to use. Additionally, we help our customers with their Corporate Communications requirements, providing video recordings and voice-overs for corporate communications materials.

Local Authorities and the NHS

We have worked for many government departments, local authorities and various parts of the NHS and have developed a special sensitivity for the translation of materials aimed at those people in our society, who come from different cultures, especially those for whom the UK is a new experience.

We also work with Housing Associations, Charities, Her Majesties' Prison Service and other such organisations to provide quality translations to enable those people, for whom English is not their native language, to find out what services and facilities are available to them.

All of the translation is carried out by native speakers of the language who have been resident in the UK for some time. We have learnt, through experience in the past, that the only way to produce a meaningful translation in these areas is to have direct experience of the services and facilities available in the UK and that is why we only use translators, who are resident in the UK.
