When handling translation of HR or training materials, it is vitally important that the translation is a completely faithful reproduction of the original. Additionally, it is necessary to ensure that the content is valid in the target market and that it reads well.
We therefore work closely with our clients throughout a project, giving and getting feedback at all times.
We have our own unique methodology for handling the translation of HR materials to ensure that the text is translated in the best possible way.
Hints & Tips
We will be happy to discuss your requirements and our procedures with you. We will then come up with a “best practice” procedure, which will cover your needs and ensure a very high quality translation.
Overview
A recent project for a client in the USA required us to translate a script and provide multilingual voice recordings. This was for an online application form for Customer Service positions in a major retailer.
The application process included an application form, a description of the position applied for, an assessment and recordings of specific Customer Service scenarios.
Process Steps
We started the project by clarifying how the client wanted us to handle specific jargon and acronyms.
We went into detail with our client about the type of voice required and we provided 3 samples of each voice required for their selection.
In order to enable us to provide you with the right sample voices for your project, please let us know if more than one voice is required, whether you need male or female, age range, style and tone, etc.
Translation
We translated all the documents, including the script for the voice recording, into the required languages. This was followed by independent proofreading by a second, native-speaker linguist.
The Comms Project Manager responsible for this particular client then carried out our internal QA checks. The PM ensured that we delivered all the files to the client on time and in the required format.
Voice Recording
In this case, our client already had a time-coded script in Excel for the voice recording part.
We provided instructions for the voice-over artists in terms of tone and style. The recordings were completed and post-edited within a short time frame as the client needed them urgently.
If you don’t have a time-coded script available, we can transcribe the text and prepare a time-coded script for translation.
Result
Our client is now successfully using all the translated materials in their recruitment process.
Having translated versions of the materials has enabled them to reach out to many more people and to attract the best talent.
