Pushing the boundaries – Going Global with your Certification
At the ATP conference at the beginning of March, you will have the opportunity of hearing Sue Orchard, President and CEO of Comms Multilingual, and Martin Mackain-Bremner, Head of Assessment at AAT, talk on the above subject.
AAT is the Association of Accounting Technicians in the UK. AAT and Comms have been working on a pilot localisation project covering the translation of a bookkeeping qualification into Arabic. BTL has also been involved as the platform provider.
The presentation will present a case study of the project and will describe some of the principal issues and challenges that we all faced.
The aim of the project was to test the processes out on a complex language like Arabic with a view to being able to offer the certification in many more languages later. Many important lessons were learned and we developed some crucial tools and processes to deliver this and future projects.
In sharing these lessons, we hope that we can help attendees to be prepared for the challenges they will face and to provide them with practical guidance as to how to overcome such challenges so that they can successfully offer their certifications, tests, assessments and exams in other languages.
In this presentation, our aim is to provide people with information about how a certification body overcame the challenges in offering their certification in Arabic.
Although the case study refers to a certification body, many of the challenges faced and lessons learned are applicable to anyone in the testing business.
