Overview
A leading US provider of Business process management software was looking to expand into other countries and needed to have their software translated. They were initially looking at expanding into Canada and Mexico and therefore needed French and Spanish.
Process Steps
We worked with them initially to ensure that we had definitions of key terms in place. This would ensure that key terms were understood correctly by each translation team. All the translations for this client are carried out by native-speaker linguists with expertise in the translation of software strings. Each language is translated by one person and then independently proofread by a second person in order to ensure quality.
Hints & Tips
Sometimes it is not easy to know how to translate something in a software string without any context. We therefore liaise regularly with our clients, who help us to define exactly how something should be translated.
Result
Our client was delighted with the results of their expansion into the Canadian and Mexican markets and has since continued to expand internationally. We have provided translations of their entire software string bank in 15 languages so far and we regularly provide translations of updates to the software strings.
New Software Distributors and Resellers
Our client also wanted to provide particular support to their sales teams in other countries and so we now also translate their marketing materials.

The definitions of key terms, which we put in place at the beginning, have been used again and again as we have translated more and more languages for our client. This was a very necessary and a very good investment in time and money at the start of the project.
