Multimedia Services

What do you understand by the word "Multimedia"?

Multimedia can be defined as information in more than one form. It includes the use of text, audio, music, graphics, animation and full-motion video. Multimedia programmes are typically games, encyclopaedias and training courses on CD-ROM or DVD. However, any application with sound and/or video can be called a multimedia programme.

Comms Multilingual can help with all your multimedia requirements:

  • Do you need to produce your E-Learning materials in other languages for people within your own company or clients in other countries?
  • Do you have a promotional or corporate information video that you would like to adapt for use abroad?
  • Do you need to have City Tours or sightseeing information recorded in other languages?
  • How about Museum Guides in other languages?
  • What about Health information on tape, CD or DVD, so that all people can have fair and equal access to the health services available, no matter what their native language?
  • How about public announcements, such as passenger information on aircraft?

If you have any requirements such as these, then Comms Multilingual will make an ideal production partner for you. We have the expertise to put together all of these items and more. We have access to the necessary studio facilities and the native speaker voice-over artistes to record any sound tracks that you may need.

Case study 4 details the work carried out for a Dublin coach company, which commissioned the translation and recording of a script for their tourist tours of Dublin. The recordings of the City Tour of Dublin were done in 6 languages (French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian and Japanese), and have been a great success.

Voice-overs

We will provide a complete pre- and post-production service for any multimedia project. For voice-overs, we can provide samples of a variety of voices so that you can choose the one that is the most suitable for your project. Your satisfaction at every stage of the process is our priority.

We have honed our voice-over skills over the past few years and we have built a considerable team of native speaker linguists that we use on a regular basis for our various projects. That is why we are always able to offer you a choice of different voices, both male and female, and a number of varying age groups. If you would like to have voice samples in any language, please Contact us.

If timing is critical for each segment, please bear in mind that it may well take longer to speak the same text in other languages, so you will need to make an allowance for that when putting together the original English files, scripts and timings. We can work with you to provide advice on this aspect.

Subtitles

These are used in a huge variety of different applications, and Comms can help you with these. If you are putting together such material from scratch, please bear in mind that other languages can be up to 30% longer than the equivalent English text. You will therefore need to allow space for text expansion when putting together the original English file.

Comms can advise you before you start a project just where the potential pitfalls may be and how we can therefore help you to avoid them.

If you would like a quotation, please let us have the following information:
  1. In which format will the files come to us?
  2. In which format would you like the finished materials to be returned to you?
  3. What is the subject matter?
  4. Which language or languages do you need?
  5. Will you be supplying us with the files already translated or do you need us to do the translation?
  6. Is the script already prepared or do you need us to adapt a written document into a script?
  7. Please send us the files in question, either by e-mail or on CD through the post or via our ftp server. We will always need to see the files before we can do an accurate quotation.
  8. If the work that you require concerns E-Learning, do you just need to have the translated text inserted into text boxes, or do you require anything like voice-overs etc.?
  9. If you need to have Voiceovers, we will need to know what your preferences for the voices are (i.e. young/old, male/female).
  10. What are your deadlines?
